Separate service messages from promotions
Order updates, support requests, and marketing campaigns have different purposes. Define which system sends each message and preserve the customer's preferences. A support question should reach a person with order context; it should not automatically add the customer to unrelated promotional campaigns.
Choose one useful retention journey first
Start with a practical need such as product care guidance or a requested replenishment reminder. Use approved content and conditions, avoid messaging customers about canceled orders, and check whether your store already sends the same message before adding another workflow.
What it looks like in practice.
A customer asks how to care for a purchased product. The support request includes the order reference, and a person provides an approved guide. A separate optional reminder is offered only where the customer has chosen that type of communication.
What to measure.
Review repeat purchases, support response time, customer preferences, and whether campaigns add useful revenue after their costs.
